Search engine optimization, commonly referred to as SEO, is a digital marketing strategy that is all about maximizing the search engine traffic that your website receives by ranking higher in the search results for keywords important to your site.
It All Started Growing Up
As long as I can remember my parents have both owned their own successful businesses. While growing up, I learned early on what it meant to work hard. I saw first hand the effort it took to succeed. This helped create a unique appreciation for hard work and the success it bore.
Seeing this from an early age motivated a desire for me to contribute to that success. As a kid, I wanted to contribute and help my parents succeed, but it wasn’t for the toys. One of the greatest rewards I found was the satisfaction of doing good work and being able to contribute to the effort.
As I grew up so did my motivation to work hard and help out. As a result, I am now quite fond of taking on difficult, challenging tasks and take great pride in producing good work.
A Late And Rocky Start
As it would turn out though things didn’t go so smoothly. I didn’t even get started learning SEO or even touch coding until well after college.
My studies in business administration and marketing wrapped up in 2010. Like many others though, at that time I lacked experience and struggled to find my direction. Several years later and I felt I had hit rock bottom. I had enlisted and sat around in delayed entry for 11 months till I blew my shoulder. Unemployed, frustrated, dealing with depression and all of that not so fun stuff I reached my igniting point.
I needed to turn things around and so I set out on a mission. During the day I worked in a warehouse and at night I burned the midnight oil teaching myself HTML and CSS at Codeacademy.
It Must Be Alchemy
As luck would have it shortly thereafter I got a job with a dental website provider, ProSites, sending out monthly client reports. It was an entry level SEO position within a welcoming digital marketing team and it would be my beginning.
My first day I read an article, Why SEO Is Like An RTS Game and that struck a chord with me. Having grown up a bit of a video game geek the article spoke my language.
I was hooked on SEO at that point. It spoke my language and stirred a new hunger within me. What had originally been a penchant for video games and questing for gold and loot quickly turned into a quest to learn more about SEO.
Quest Accepted, Master SEO
I needed to learn more, I needed to learn everything I could and so I began dedicating my free time to teach myself.

It’s Not Over Yet
Even after work though I continue tinkering away as an avid SEO hobbyist in my free time. In fact, this website is a little project of mine as I forge my way through the realm of online marketing.
When it’s time to disconnect, I enjoy spending time with my family and heading outside and hitting the trail.
My family is a wonderful little clan that helps keep me grounded and focused. They bring me immense amounts of laughter, fun, and joy. They are my driving motivation behind my work.
When I get the chance, I like to take a few days and hike into the wilderness. Nothing compares to setting out on the trail with a loaded pack and being able to beat out the stress of the week with each step. The worries of the week are lost in the isolation and fresh air of nature.
Take a moment to view some of the shots from my some of my most recent adventures outdoors, and if you’d like to get in touch please feel free to send me a message or contact on one of my profiles.
